Baby's First Gift!

Last week we received our first gift for Baby Truex!

Normally when you think of baby's first gift it comes from family or a really close friend but this one shockingly didn't.

First let me give a little back story to catch you all up!

Ron's car has been paid off for almost a year and it's a great little car for trips and everything because it's makes killer gas mileage plus it's a stick and Ron loves that! Even though a baby car seat will fit happily and comfortably in the back seat that pretty much all that would fit comfortably and happily back there in the passenger category. So we talked about him getting a car slightly bigger or more wider so we can fit a car seat and passenger both happily and comfortably in the back and then later down the road be able to fit two car seats and a then a little more later down the road fit two car seats and a booster seat. Plus we also wanted to get the same or close to the same gas mileage so we could continue to use his car primarily for road trips.

Two weeks ago during some down time at work Ron went to the VW website and starting chatting with a representative about a the 2014 VW Golf to get some info on it since he is seriously thinking of getting this as his new car.

He talked to a representative names Shelley who was able to give him all the details and info he was looking for. During their chat Ron told him about the car he had and even though he loves it, it's not big enough for our expanding family. She was exciting to hear about us expecting at the beginning of the year and at the end of the chat she asked for our address because she thought she had something to send us.

Ron told me this when he got home and we both thought well maybe it could be something for the baby but then it could also be car info or jazz like that. So we just waited and went on with our week.

Then one day last week....

UPS delivered this package to Mr. and Mrs Ron Truex from VW Auto Company. As you can see it's not a book or manual for a car!

As luck would have it I was going up to Phoenix to have lunch with Ron so I brought it with me so we could open it there.

First thing he pulled out was............

 this simple little card.

We both figured it was one of those self typed everyday cards they send out to customers or potential customers but when we opened it...

We found that Shelley, the representative Ron chatted with, had very kindly and beautifully gone out of her way to write us a complete handwritten card!

Since this is a littler picture this is what she wrote:

"Dear Truex Family,
Congratulations on your new addition to the family! May this new life bring much happiness and joy to you.

Sincerely,
Shelley A."

Then at the bottom she added this beautiful quote!

"We find delight in the beauty and happiness of children that makes the heart too big for the body"
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

This got the better of my pregnancy hormones and I had to fight off the tears. Even if it was just the car it already spoke volumes not only about this representative but also of the company and I was sold on this car even though we hadn't made any decisions at all about it yet and honestly still haven't set any in stone.

After we both read the card Ron reached back into the bag and pulled out...

this super cute green and white stripped 12 month baby jacket!

I was so giddy just from the cuteness and then Ron pointed out the one thing that would send my giddy meter beyond the top!

Das Baby!!!

For those of you wondering why this made me a new form of giddy is because Das is a form of the in German and I took German in high school, went to Germany for my Senior Trip, and loved Germany, the culture, and the people! Yes I know their history has some black marks but so does every other country but my Llama, who also took German and went to Germany, love it so this was the best thing they could have ever sent us and you know darn good and well when Baby Truex can fit into this and that the Munchkin will not only be put into it but I will be taking a ton of photos of them in it!

Ron and I were so touched that a huge company like this would go so out of their way to send something to us knowing good and well that we may decide to get a different car from a different company, even though this helped their changes of making a sell in my books!

Ron made sure to e-mail Shelley to thank her and tell her about my love for Germany and how this made me so giddy because of it! I plan on contacting the company to give them my thanks as well about this heartfelt gift!

So thank you VW for Baby Truex's first official baby gift!
